Manners vs. Mcmillan

Hey guys I'm interested to here some opinions from people that have used one or both of these makes of stocks. Does one beat the other in quality or is it a toss up? I'm looking at getting a manners t4 or a McM a5 for a savage target action barreled for 284 win that I just bought. Price is always a consideration but these ones are so close in price and features that I'm wondering if one is obviously better than the other or if its just more of a personal preference. I've never bought a higher end stock like this before and want to make the right choice the first time.

McMillan offers the biggest selection of hunting and tactical stocks with a lot of laquered or molded in surfaces in best quality and also with possible custom options (for excample barrel channel milling per print).

I have both & like the Manners better. I would like to see them make a version of the ST1000 stock, but then I'd have to get rid of all my McMillans.

Happy Shooting!

You can get the ST1000 from mcmillan. Just call up Bill Shehane ...probably has one in stock.

I have a manners T4A love it. This was my first high end stock. Will never buy cheap again. Just picked up a T2A for another build. Look to stockies for a little better deal many in stock.

McMillan all the way. I have ordered 6 Manners stocks for different customers and have yet to get one inletted correctly. Pretty sad, as they make a nice looking stock. McMillan from here on out. ;D

I currently own & shoot four rifles in McMillan stocks, and have built several rifles for customers using McM stocks. I like their marble gel coat color combination a lot - much prefer it to the paint that Manners are generally limited to.

However, I've seen a lot of McM stocks with blemished buttstocks where they ground into the gel coat while grinding the recoil pad to fit. Never seen anything like that on a Manners. Couple of friends I shoot with have Manners stocks, and after getting a close look and handling both of 'em, I've sorta been looking for an excuse to try one. Don't believe I'll be selling off all my McMs anytime soon, but I'll give Tom's stocks a chance to prove themselves.

Manners anyday of the week and twice on Sunday.

Better product, better people, better all around.

I have a McMillan, have never owned a Manners. I've handled many of both, my next high end stock will be a Manners. I like the looks the feel and believe the construction is better. Just my .02.
