Mange?

Mange is a sign of a weakened immune system. Coyotes and bobcats around here eat rodents that have been poisoned then it leads to mange. Cull it and bury it.

Demodectic mange usually goes along with a weakened immune system. Sarcoptic mange not so but it is highly contagious and also affects humans.
Yep, sarcoptic mange is from mites that burrow into the skin of the infected animal and cause an inflammatory reaction, leading to the swollen, bumpy, ugly skin.

My question is,
Does this cause the animal unmanageable suffering?
If so, you may want to do the "right thing" here. Sometimes good deeds require no punishment.

Yes, it looks like the mange I've seen.

I see it a lot here in eastern PA on groundhogs and coyotes, to a lesser extent on foxes.
