Manatee in the Winter

Just remembering some photos recently posted of ranges in the snow so I thought you might like to see a Manatee shoot from last Saturday.

That's Doug Bell in his winter thong getting ready for the next round of 600. This coming Saturday is an IBS style paper match. Sometimes, as you can see from the line, it gets pretty crowded with smiles and fun.

Damn, I miss that place. Mitt using his bull horn screaming 10 seconds to let you know how much longer you have to shoot, George writing those news letters, and Ole Gunny saying those Savage rifles were such a piece crap and would never win.........

Life is good. Especially when I am not knee deep in snow, and freezing my buns off while trying to have fun while shooting. I recommend it for everyone. Doug

CaptainMal, are or will the formats to your shoots be posted on your website? Manatees was always a hoot to shoot at. You all have an excellent range. From one of the original East Coast Boys.

Good question.

I will ask Steve Krauss to address that at the IBS-style shoot tomorrow. Changes are being made and that sure would be a good one. Not sure how they have contracted and operate the website. The operation has taken on a whole new set of officers and management. I think, all for the good.

What an "eye"!

No clue who was on bench 26. Think I was on 21 and removed from that. Ironically, I tried to fireform and blanked a CCI 400 in one of my Dashers. Been fire forming a few each session as I prepare to scrap that Norma Dasher stuff I use in just one (fortunately) of my Dashers. Will not use anything but 450's for fire forming any more.

Think Dr. Ed won that shoot and I got a third. Busy shoot as you can see. Darn good turnout. Love it when the "hot shot" visitors arrive and us locals make comebacks when conditions change as radically as they do at Manatee.

Just when you think you're good, Manatee can make you bad.

Deleted my post. Thought it could have been taken negatively.

Must have been a 400?

I live on the other coast and have not been to manatee yet. Are all of you shooting 100yd benchrest?

I am learning to shoot prone and wondered if there is opportunity to shoot prone at 200 - 500?

thanks

Manatee goes out to 1000 yards on the range that is open to the public. You can shoot from the prone position by squeezing between the benches.

IMHO
In the past Manatee was run by a few members that thought they were the exclusive owners of the club. Having recently gone through major management changes
( for the better I might add ) it's now being run much better !

The board is also making better decisions. Going forward, all that's needed now is for them to make the necessary investments in range improvements for the future of the club .

Also, the new management has also made it feel like a club again, something that's been missing for many, many years .

Manatee has around 900 members . It is and was run by board of directors or a board of dictators . The board the last few years has ben split half of directors the other half is dictators. Not only does the club Safety issues . It has a conflict of interest issues that is the dictators at payed employees . The election of the board is done by vote at the annual meeting . You must be in attendence to vote . The vote is pretty much fixed in favor of The dictators they work there ,.
The safety issues is not for the shooters .
Some how The range seems to think The side berms are the same as a back stop for bullets Put in a new skip berm Works perfect now the bullet hits on the top and skips right off our property Same as when you shoot Using a side berm .
The club has the makeing of a great club .
Simple answer let all members vote by mail . But to do that The by laws must be change
Hard to get done with a dictator ship
Great club Many of great shooters to be around . The grounds need mowed .
I can't complain I could be there and vote . Haven't been able to get the state to change when the youth turkey season starts .

What provisions, within the by-laws, permit changing the by-laws? If the by-laws were set up correctly changing them should be covered.
