Manatee Fl. 600 yard Benchrest Match 8/23/14

Another good match at Manatee gun and archery club in Florida. 1.8xx" agg with a tactical bolt gun at 600yds, unreal! This a 600 yard benchrest match ran with IBS rules, and should be sanctioned next year.

"Hi guys,

A hot one again on Saturday, but still had a great turn out. 15 shooters at the line at 8:45. Decided to just run one relay due to the noon time heat. Everyone agreed to try and finish early. Conditions ran from good to high mirage and switchy winds.

My many thanks to all who helped set up, take down and put up targets. These events would not happen without your help. Thanks again.

I feel the process went as smoothly as one could expect. We will be setting up 2 additional steel stands to accommodate 15 shooters per relay. 2 people had to make do with a pair of club target stand. I thought this would be a disadvantage to those shooters. Ha, how did I know that is exactly what Rolland wanted to shoot at:)

MATCH RESULTS: See attachments for details.

Rolland "Andy" Dilley won Small Group with a 1.459" 5 shot group
Rolland also won best 4, 5 shot group agg. with a 1.838"
Joe Ignacio won for High Score with a 186/200 3X

Great shoot guys. Rolland really showed the Heavy and Light Gun BR shooters that a good tactical 6.5/47 rifle can shoot with the best of them. As of this date, Rolland holds the Manatee range 4 group agg. record. I have a feeling it will stand for quite some time. Kris Holden had a smaller 4 group agg. (1.6??") a few years ago and it still stands for the old 565 yard match.

Hope to see everyone back for the 1000 yard benchrest match on Sept. 27th

Steve"

That is some good shooting you all have going on down there Steve.

I just heard they let Rolland Dilley shoot his 6.5x47L off his bipod. A 1.8" agg off a bipod!

Re: Manatee 600 yard Benchrest Match 8/23/14

Think we have a new IBS discipline, a bi-pod only division. LG or HG only using a Walmart bi-pod.

Yeah, years back a fella that is a Gunsmith among other things out of Missouri came down to Manatee and shot the 565 Claybird Match. He was shooting a .243AI in a AR platform with Bipod, smoked everyone. I was not there, but Gene can tell ya among others. There is definately some good shooting going on at Manatee.

Alex,

Can't believe you got the results so fast. Ii I had not seen this just now, I would not know and I shot in the match. Did know I had a 180 in spite of my "issues" with the barrel and cases. Just did not know where that ranked until now.

In disgust, I did some testing this morning. Now convinced that only a new barrel will rectify the issues. Never, I mean never let a barrel carbon up.

Thanks for posting. I did see that prone/bipod shooter and gave it little thought. Then Gene asked me as I was leaving why I "let" some young whippersnapper beat me. Had no answer then and have the same answer now.
