Manatee 600 yard IBS Match results 2-24-18

Hi guys, scores attached.

What a great day. It seems we are now full on into the summer weather pattern and the mirage showed up early on Saturday. Difficult conditions with sun and broken clouds with a switching wind at 5 to 8 mph. Group sizes suffered, but more than a few found a way to succeed.

A special shout out to David Chase who finished 4th in the 2 gun ranking. This is his first year shooting and has really upped his game. Al Benarroch has also been shooting great. I think he will have a chance to dominate here after his "Wheeler bra" shows up;). Taylor Lowers, who has been helping with scoring, sat down with one of my bench guns and for the first time every shooting a bench rifle shot the third smallest group agg. in LG. Way to go Taylor!

When we started these matches, our hope was to further the sport and to have as much fun as possible doing it. The picture of Tom Kozar at the bench says it all.

Congratulations to all who shot.

Start planning for our last sanctioned match on March 24th. Dinner party after the match, food and drinks on the house. We need to set a time, but will likely be between 4:30 and 5:00.

LG first relay had to deal with hideous wind gusts during the second string of targets. Do not think any did very well but I did laugh as I was on that relay. You like to deal with varying conditions and learn? I read the "book" on mirage shooting. Smart as I am I knew to hold off at 5 o'clock under the mirage conditions I saw. Made a real nice cluster at 5 o'clock. So much for smart being stupid.

An IBS paper shoot is oh so much more educational than the gong shoots. One more at Manatee on March 24th. Will we see you there?

Ya, I second that. I like winter but Im done with it! Been sitting under a sun lamp drinking coronas watching deep sea fishing on you tube. LOL

Steve thanks for the update. Winter has been hard on me this year, so next year you might have some extra competition.....if I can figure out my "hold under" for 600:D

Tom
Ya, mid to high 80s today. Man people actually live in this sweltering heat all year long. I will be making the trip to Deep Creek to check my "hold overs" from 600. The 600 Nationals is also on my to do list. You have any intension on going?
