Depends on what action make you're dealing with. On a Savage action, the only difference between a right and left action is the bolt handle cut. Bolt release for right or left hand actions is on the right side.
I wanted a right hand stock for a left hand action. Ordered one and when it showed up it was a 'mirror" image of a right hand action.
The bolt release was on the left side as well as the bolt handle cut. Tried to explain it to the stock maker but ended up banging my head against the wall. Just couldn't get thru to them. :

Sold it the next day rather than send it back.

Finally ordered a right hand BR style thumbhole stock cut. Plugged the right hand bolt handle cut and re cut it on the left side.
Biggest problem will be matching the stock materal color. I chose a black and grey laminated wood color. Black marker spread thin made a perfect color match. Shot it with clear coat and you have to look "real hard" to see the plug. Used bedding compound to fill the slot.
You need to compare a right and left hand action to see what difference there is. If it's only the bolt handle cut, go for it! 8)
And why would I want a right hand stock with a left hand action? (I'm right handed) For bench shooting, it's a perfect set up!
Right hand stays in control of the stock and my free left hand works the bolt and feeds ammo. I like it so much that now I have a hard time shooting my right hand rigs. After shooting the right/left rig, I'll catch myself trying to reach across to work the bolt. :-\
