Making a laminated stock

Hi guys!
I'm thinking of making a laminated stock for my Unique T3000 rifle, base on the need to afford a lower weight to compete in BR.
I'd like to read your comments about the kind of woods needed, as well as the glue to be used, thickness and so on.
It should be a great thing if you post a link to an article about this subject.
Any kind of orientation will be really welcome. Thanks a lot.

Marinetex works well for adhesive. If weight is a problem use thin hardwood slats and leave voids like lattice work in the larger parts.

3/4 " furniture grade birch ply (USA made) 5 ply with 3 pieces glued together using titebond 2 .
Do not try to use the 7-9 ply Chinese stuff , too many voids and overlays .
It's a lite weight stable stock , one of Josh B stock designs weighs about 3 lbs .
I can email pics of wood to use and not . Stocks made with it .
The USA made laminate can be purchased at Home Depot , lowes usually has the Chinese stuff . That's down here , your store may be dif .

The blanks you buy are made of birch. The hard part of making your own is proper clamping of the glued up strips. Lots of clamps and a strong frame, or Vacuum system.

There's only 2 glue surfaces and 10-12 6" c clamps are a must .

Find a 4/4 board wide enough to cut 2 patterns out of. Cut them out glue them together with bows facing opposite each other, you will have enough scrap to glue up front for the 3" forend. I use west systems epoxy and wet out the boards for about 30 minutes before clamping up, otherwise the joint will dry out. Have fun! Its pretty easy to do, just take your time.

I have some photos somewhere. Al Flores hand picked the lightest redwood at a specialty wood dealer. Al roughed out the pieces and I took them to a furniture shop and put them in their German sanding machine. It held .010" tolerance. Al bought the carbon fiber cloth and glue from West Marines. We avoided the not so good clamps. Both of mine were vacuum bagged. We used vertical and horizontal laminates and carbon fiber cloth.
First photo on the mill.

I've not been able to download the finished product after Michael Kavanaugh glued it in and painted it.

If you are looking for high quality plywood, look for the REAL "Baltic Birch", not the chicom stuff that's out there.

Did you come up with that all on your own? or have to look in a dictionary. Did you also misspell the first part of your name? Smart_ _ _

Someone wants the diploma they gave you,, back! Didn't have to bother to "look in a dictionary" and "I DID come up with that on my own" as I possess a good, fundamental education . I can assume you do not..... Must be a product of the modern education system. And no, I didn't misspell anything....

The whole Idea behind this forum is I believe to share knowledge, not for witty comments, like yours. I only made it to the 7 th. grade. Does this make you feel like you are better than others? You must be insecure?
