I recently treated a 92 year old gentleman who, in the course of the conversation, said he served next to MAJ Winters as a replacement soldier through the war. He said MAJ Winters was a great soldier and leader. Even after over 60 years, he stlll referred to Winters as Major. He gave me a copy of his memoires as an infantry officer, and it was truly an honour to hear his stories, and about serving with Winters.

I wish the main stream media would have more coverage of the loss of a true American HERO to go along with the other ongoing tragedy. Any time we think we have it bad just watch Band of Brothers or the Pacific series and realize how easy we all have it now Because of what these and all veterans have done.

Both Brian Williams and Chris Matthews did a tribute at the end of their broadcasts tonight (1/11/11). Well done.
