Magnum Primers in place of Standard ones ?

I bought a large number of Winchester primers recently from a store closing sale. Some boxes are marked for STANDARD loads some are marked for MAGNUM loads ,others are marked for STANDARD and MAGNUM loads[both types].Can I safely use Magnum primers for light target loads in place of Standard primers ,I have about 3000 that I would like to use up. P.S. I know I cant use Standard in place of Magnum primers when called for in loading already. Thanks

In my limited experience with Winchester primers, I have found that their standard LR primers are pretty warm to start with, so I would urge caution especially with your stated purpose. Another way for me to say it is, I would not load up a pile of them before testing.......

That being stated, I will use Wolf LRM for just about any primer pocket that will accept them. The Russian primers tend to be on the mild side in my experience.

Not trying to be a smart butt, but just because you can get a product cheap doesn't necessarily mean you should buy thousands of them (unless they are Berger bullets of course).

I use Federal 215M primers in all my calibers form .243 up to 375 and Im more than happy with the way they perform. In fact switching to 215M in my 243 it transformed it from an average shooter to my best shooter.Your shot start (initial) pressure rises quite a bit with the warmer magnum primers so load up a couple loads and check your speed first
