Magnum primers in 7mm-08

Is it possible to use mag primers in the 7-08 without blowing my face off? I am using H4350 with Sierra 168s and getting vertical stringing. I don't have access to a Chrono to tell if it is velocity, or shooting technique related. I suppose that would be the first step to see if I am chasing my tail or not, but does anyone have any advice? I would of course back off the powder charge to work up.

You can always try it but it sounds like some change in your shooting than a primer. Are you shooting of a bipod to where it may be jumping off the bench? Is you barreled action floated in the stock as it heats up it may be pinching in the stock? I would check all the small things first before changing primers. Or try changing powders maybe your rifle don't like the load. Good luck

There is no reason that you can't use a mag primer. The real question 1st is what powder are you using? Ball powders are a lot harder to light up & I use mag primers on all ball powders including H380 in my 22-250 AI. At worst you'll have to drop the powder charge 1/2gr. USUALLY, when I encounter vertical stringing, it tells me that I'm almost there & a few tenths more charge will normally settle it down. If you're not at a confirmed top load for your rifle/barrel, try upping the charge 1/10 at a time.
