magnum primer vs mil spec

I'm working up some loads for a 6MM BR which generally call for magnum primers as more effective in the various powders that work well for this caliber. I understand the difference between magnum primers and standard primers, the principle difference (after primer compound and flame temp) is a harder cup that can prevent blow-out in a higher pressure round.

Which got me to thinking...I have not seen any discussion on using a milspec CCI 41 small rifle primer rather than a magum primer. Seems that a CCI 41 fills the same needs - harder cup, higher flash temp - as a magnum.

The reason for my question is I have inventory of small rifle primers, and an inventory of CCI 41, but no small rifle magnum. An oft seen response is "use what you have and adjust load accordingly", which is fine and what I will likely do, but I was looking for something a little more in depth.

What say the experts out there?

The CCI #41 primer is a magnum primer with additional sealing on the waterproofing foil. They’re interchangeable for load purposes with the 450.

The CCI 41 primer is the same as the CCI 450 magnum primer with the following changes.
The primer cup is thicker in the base.
The anvil is shorter.
Both these changes require more impact force to set the primer off to help prevent slam fires.
