Magnum Metal rest

Has anyone here used one of these rests? It looks similar in design to the Farley. What were your likes or dislikes about this rest?

I would spend the little extra and get the SEB NEO, plus as a engineer/designer myself I never appreciate when people steal designs, granted some things end up similar simply because function drives form but this rest looks to be a dead knockoff with no innovation on their end and it’s still running a premium price.

Ragged, I'm not an engineeer, but I do know what a lot of rest have to offer. The magnum metal may resemble a Farley, but so does the Seb. It ain't the same as a Farley and neither is the SEB.

Magnum Metal rest and other COPIES/Improvements

Similar to the events that occurred after Bill Gebhardt had the Bald Eagle rest with the windage top. All kinds of PURE copies as well as improved tops appeared. Heck we even had a Chinese rest that COPIED most of the Bill's eforts.
Ken kliendorst had one of the first tools to take a bolt apart now there are many PURE copies and others have improvement.
Gues it is some form of progress

Thanks for the input. I take it then that it is a clone, with no improvement in performance over other designs that it resembles.

I've been told the maker had permission from Farley to make this, so that of course changes things a bit, if that is true they should post something to that effect on their website to keep people like myself from assuming they just stole a large chunk of the design.

I own a Magnum Metal Toggle Rest, have for over a year now.
This rest weights(sp?)30lbs. and is solid as a rock, smooth throughout while attaining the target---if I'm not mistaken,Mr. Lambert had some input on the design and materials used.
When I'm ready to add another rest to my pile---it will be another from Mr. Hunter. Oh!,by the way,I own a SEB,without the foward counter weights, there is too much backlash in the joystick after aquiring a target.

Keith,
Thanks you for the input!
Some improvements have been done to the newer SEB Gen-2 rest, such as new bearings (=more smoother than ever), new teflon pressure plate inside (=much easier tension adjustment), new joystick head (=more tighter attachment and 'neater' look), built-in 'uplift' w/additional leaf springs inside (=more weight the top can resist & more smoother action), all metal knobs etc.
I read & hear every input (just like your input now) and gather them all to make make possible improvements & to make my rests better from time to time.
If you would like to change/upgrade your old seb rest, you can send the coaxial unit (without the base, top etc) to me and I will 're-new' it at no charge. You only need to pay the shipping both ways.
Contact me if you are interested. sebastianlambang@yahoo.com
I can remove the 'backlash' (your term) easily, change the bearings etc.
I have hundreds of satisfied customers worldwide but I do not want a dissapointed customer also in the same time.
Best,
seb.

Folks, I've never shoot off the full size Farley so I can't offer a comparison all I know is that if there's anything out there that's smoother or better built then Seb's new NEO it would supprise me. I'm extremely happy with mine and everyone who has looked at it and opperated it are amazed at both the smoothness and quality of wookmanship and materials. You'll be hard pressed to find better customer service anywhere, Seb's offer to Keith is proof of that.

I'm one very satisfied Seb NEO owner.
