MagnetoSpeed and labradar mixed results

ttfreestyle

Received my MagnetoSpeed today, set it up and my buddy’s labradar as well. Shot a 300 ultra and 338 edge over both, got some results I didn’t expect. Is this normal? All are 3 shot averages

MagnetoSpeed....gun...........labradar
3130............. 300 ultra......... 3138

2852............. 338 Edge......... 2842

How can the magneto show 8 FPS slower than the labradar with one gun and 10 FPS faster with the other? I didn’t expect them to both be exactly the same but I didn’t expect them to flip flop. Troy

They were set up with different rifles at different times. The set-ups were slightly different and so were the results.

A real test would be to take down the MagnetoSpeed and later put it back on the same gun. That would tell you if it's set-up repeatable. Of course barrel fouling and heating might compromise that.

Much can be said of the same issue swapping rifles with the Labrador. There are variables introduced with different sets. You probably just got a bit of an education dealing with range conditions vs laboratory control.

The magneto was 2 FPS slower than the speed I used on the app my last outing and didn’t miss a shot so I’m happy with that. I just didn’t expect one to be faster with one gun but Not both. I’ll play with them next time out and learn more I’m sure. Thanks. Troy

I would opine that both are well within their respective tolerances. 2% difference on the 300 and 2.8% on the 338. Divide that by 2, the number of instruments. I find that exceptional!

8 / 3130 = .00255 that's 0.26%. A quarter of a percent difference? that is totally insignificant.

10/ 2852= .0035 That's 0.35%, again. incredibly small difference.

I totally agree with Texas 10, I also find this exceptional!

These are field instruments, one should be happy they are that close. Comparing one measuring device against another is like laying two rulers next to one another, and trying to determine which is more accurate.
