Magneto speed sporter

Only problem I had with the sporter is it isn't compatible with barrels over 1" at the muzzle. Once I started running 1 1/4" barrels I bought the V3 bayonet and use it with my sporter display.

My other rifle is being re-barreled when I get it back due to its longer barrel I will trim the carbon fiber tube down to work with that rifle and then it will be plenty long for this one I know right now it looks a little awkward

I have the sporter, but probably don't use it as much as you guys. I think the V3 will work with a suppressor, but the sporter won't.

Gots to stop assuming guys..

I’ve got a magnetospeed sporter and use it on 1.250” barrels all the time. I use the supplied thin rubber cradle for 1.250” barrels.

Yes the sporter works on suppressors (Dead Air TI, (308 cal), AAC prodigy (22lr), pistols, and shotguns. I’ve used it on just about everything...

1.25? I run mine on a suppressor regularly, which is officially 1.562" in diamter. It is at the ragged edge of picking up, but is accurate. I remove the rubber from the unit, put it on top of the strap, but it works just fine.

If I used it more often I'd get or make the conversion as above to have an adapter rod I mount to instead.

In my case I didn't assume anything. Even with no spacer at all on the sporter it still sat too low on my 1.25 barrels to read correctly. I tested it side by side with a friends lab radar and also compared the numbers with the V3 bayonet. Not saying yours doesn't work correctly on the bigger barrels but mine didn't. If sitting lower than that .25 they refer to I'd definitely confirm it's reading correctly.

Did you play with the sensitivity there are adjustments on that as well

Yeah I did. I would have thought if the bayonet is parallel to bore and picking up the shots that it would have worked correctly. Sounds like with yours and maybe others it's not issue. I wonder if size and velocity of the projectile might make the difference?

I shoot 20 ,22,30 caliber subsonic, gotta change the calibration between the Smalls & 30 cal. And shooting a 6brai has to be on the hi2 to pick up. I gotta use all 3 settings.

But it works

I have had one or two bullets that it hated. Not shots, types of bullets. For example, on a long chrono day with the .300 it picked up everything (accurately, I have shot over other chronos and have confirmed, and the math otherwise checks out etc) with my suppressor distance mount, but not one shot from whatever 187 bullet Gemtech had in their sample pack. Then, worked fine with the next set of ammo I shot so not like it got cold, broken, bad battery. NO idea what is up with that.

Worked well on 105 class 6mm bullets without the rubber pad for me.

I don’t have mine mounted to the barrel I use a carbon fiber tube mount from wiser precision so barrel diameter is irrelevant View attachment 1165967

How much rail space do you need for the Wiser Precision mount? I’m looking into purchasing one of these but not quite sure if there will be enough real estate for the bipod and the WP mount. I have 4” pic rail on mine.

I have the sporter version. It's a great tool! There is no way I would ever go back to a standard chrony set up. The Magneto is one of those tools that if it were to ever break or be damaged I would immediately buy another one.
