Magazine system For an HS stock rem 700 short

Just checking to see if there is available a detachable magazine system that can be installed in an HS varmint stock with a rem 700 short action. I need to finish up my varmint rifle for this season and I am debating between what stock to go with. I like the HS varmint but I really want a detachable magazine. If I cant make that work I will go with a manners. The manners of course will be expensive. Lee

I got this for my HS stock. I'm actually dropping it off to the smith on Saturday for him to install it. It is not drop in, some inletting is required but it has a much more appealing price than the others I looked at and I trust PT&G. Many of the reviews I've read talked about using them in HS stocks, it doesn't seem like much inletting is needed. It comes with pillars and uses the AICS mags.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but you do know that H-S sells their own dbm kit for 700 BDL SAs, right? I wanted one but couldn't afford it, so I settled for one of those $20 mag extenders sold through Midway; gives me just about enough rounds for an average afternoon of groundhog hunting without reloading.

I had to have it inletted but I had PTG BM installed in an HS stock.

Just done one with 260ai chamber.. I bought the kit from accuracy international. It came with double stack 10 rd mags. The rem 700 would not feed from the double stack mags. Had to order single stack mags to get it to work. Has to be made to fit, but one done it works well.

I tried the cheap ones and they all just felt and sounded cheesy to me. Go with the hs dbm assembly and you will never want a better one ! Only flinch once that way

I like it just fine. I have Badger in my LA and cannot tell the difference. The stock has a few small chips from the inletting but a little bedding compund took care of them.

I have used an HS, and a couple of the AICS pattern bottom metals. For a hunting rifle I really liked the HS, with the 3 or 4 round mags (I forget exactly what it holds) it is the closest to a flush mount and looks good; however, it is the shortest of any mags I've used you are truely limited to 2.8 OAL.

It isn't as pretty but I just got a PTG with the flush mount mag release installed on my 7-08. I reminds me of a Winchester 95 with that ugly 5 round AICS pattern mag hanging out, but it is the price you pay for the convenience of a DBM and 2.9 OAL
