Mag action vs Standard long??? Feed rails

Other than the bolt face size, are there any differences between a magnum action(say a Rem 700) and the standard long action? I have heard that an action for a RUM may have wider feed rails but is that the exception? For most actions, are the feed rails the same size for mag and non mag actions?
Thank you

The feed rails for the mag action will be a little wider than a standard action as the belt of the Mag case still has to feed through them.
Its a very very easy job to open them up enough and can be done with a file and a little care.

Personaly if your gonna put it in the mill to open them up you may as well put a Wyatt's mag box in their also especialy if your gonna run a longer round like a 300Wby or STW case or any of the Ultra Mags

JD,
Thank you for your help. I was actually thinking about going the other way. If I had a mag action and wanted to go to a 308 boltface caliber(requiring a new bolt) would there be any problems?
Thank you

never done it that way without using a Wyatt's box , it converts it to feed from the center using the mag box lips to hold the shells , take a little messing with to get it to feed right but after that it worked great.

another option would be to use a detachable mag system , "Kwik-Klip" makes one that despite its low cost works very very well and the mags arn't $80 like the Accuracy International ones are
