Any of you guys happen to play around with the various wildcats from MDWS ? Alot of them seem really cool very interesting especially because of what seems to be easy brass forming, affordable barrels.....and you know, the cool names lol.

What I'm curious about though for guys in the know is how often do they bring calibers in or out ? Apparently they used to have a few like a .17 stinger but and others but now can't find any info about them. What's up with that ? But anyhow I still need to build a good .223 before I start with the crazy wildcats I'm just more curious then any thing .
Thanks !

MDWS is a company that sells Barrels and Wildcat Brass. It's dedicated primarily to AR15's. They provide a great service to the community. Pick your favorite Caliber, order a Barrel and some brass. It's almost turnkey. MDWS would benefit greatly by offering boxed Ammo at competitive prices. I'm a huge Fan of AR's & Wildcats for them and have designed a Special Receiver to further enhance the Rifle. However the prices on AR components have skyrocketed so I'm seeking an alternative platform. Feinstein be damned.

It would really help if the Mad Dog Weapons Systems website had more information about the cartridges they are selling brass and barrels for. Maybe they could take a little time and put up performance data like everyone else does. You may be able to find the performance data by searching the forums on their website or via google but why make your potential customers do that.

I thought about using their contact form to ask for performance data and found this statement:
If you have not done any research by visiting our Forum (MSR Evolution Forum) or simply “Googling” our cartridges, you may be met with a somewhat Snarky response!

The combination of missing data (missing in the sense that every other vendor that has wildcats of their own design post data for them) and a statement like above turned me off completely from investigating what they have. They should really have complete data available before attacking potential customers for not researching their products, they may keep their customers from making snarky comments about them.

I'm a member and reader of MDWS site, mostly for the info on 7.62x40WT, a non-MDWS wildcat preceding .30HAM'R. Their own in-house wildcats seem to focus on more expensive calibers, rather than the common .224, .277, and .30.

The combination of missing data and a statement like above turned me off completely from investigating what they have.
It's definitely an RTFM insider & enthusiast environment, vs a "here's out brochure" sales pitch. On the upside. . . there's no sales pitch!

Hornady used too (maybe still does) have quite the humorous spiel on they're phone system... Maybe a bit less snarky than these guys....But I found Hornady's quite funny.

They have guaranteed i wont be a customer- and i would have done my research first anyway

Well, at least they don’t say…..”zero’s and one’s guaranteed”.

The shooting community is a pretty big tent. There is a market for just about everything.

But as a owner of a business, I know the last thing my customers want is a ”snarky attitude”.
You are correct Mr. Schmidt. If I want a snarky attitude I'll go visit a state or federal government office.

Golly. I cannot spend my money fast enough with those clever gents.

They look like 223 based varied caliber wildcats. Ok. In an AR, fine. It's just that when I think AR I think pew, pew, pew, pew, and more pewpew. I have enough of a time loading 500 wildcats for a single shot PD gun.

I guess it has it's attractions, but nah, no, nope, nada, not me.

I'll stick with my Fudd guns and snark be damned.

Reminds me of a ziggy pockets song where he drank mad dog and woke up in a dumpster with cats all over him.
Last time I had any “dealings “ with “Mad Dog” was at a fraternity hazing party. That wasn’t a happy ending, at least what I remember. I’ll stick to my bench guns.

Hey Wolfdog, I have a 6mm Mongoose and 3 .277 Wolverines, they are fantastic for what they are. I started playing with them as a way to use the plentiful range pick up .223 / 5.56 brass that the sidewalk commandos leave laying all over the local public range. The idea behind them was to be able to convert a .223 / 5.56 AR 15 to a more viable hunting round without needing any special components or parts other than a barrel.
I have taken several deer and hogs with the Wolverine and bullets including the 90 grain Speer Gold Dot the 100 grain Nosler Accubond and the 115 grain Hornady V-max. I haven't shot anything with the Mongoose except paper but it has excelled at that pursuit. They make great youth rifles and also a good medium game round for recoil sensitive people.
