I won't receive this pistol until Monday
and just want to learn all i can about the
Maximum. Any Do's and Don'ts from
you are appreciated.

Also, do not dry fire it with the transfer block in firing position and the breechblock open. It will break the transfer bar.

I've had a couple and still have one with a few barrels, the ones I have are pretty tight chambers and the 7WSM is a tight neck chamber that you have to turn the necks. The guns shoot great but thee weak link, at least for me, is the extractor system. It's iffy on all the ones I've owned. If the lever doesn't want to come down then recock and snap it again, a lot of times this will allow it to extract. As others have mentioned, don't dry fire it!! It's a neat gun that's accurate and easy to tote but when I carry it hunting I also carry a short cleaning rod in case a empty piece of brass won't extract.

It’s going to be really hard to find a scope base! MOA made them and they are out of business. Here’s one and it’s not forsale. Base and bottom ring machined out of one piece of aluminum. Might check on IHMSA website classifieds. MOA was very popular silhouette pistol

EGW makes blank pic rails, have your gunsmith drill the bolt holes and cut to the length you want
That's what I'd do. There's lots of pic blanks out there. Wouldn't be hard at all to make one up.

Seeing this reminds me of the RPM/Merrill pistols. I remember meeting the guy that made them back in the late 80's early 90's at our local silhouette range. It was really cool. He let me shoot 2 or 3 of them. He had recently moved here so I saw him now and then.
