I just bought a set of Lyman dies from the classifieds and they came with an additional seater die (Precision Alignment Seating Die).
The die uses a sliding sleeve inside the die with assorted seating stems. This die will handle 300 Savage up to 30-06. If I replaced the sleeve and stem with appropriate parts it’s good for anything based on those parent cases. It looks like they haven’t been made in a while so parts are as you can find them on EBay.
It looks nice enough, I just don’t see where it would be any better (aside from some flexibility I’m unlikely to take advantage of) than dedicated seating dies.
It looks like some of the cast bullet users really like the basic design for seating their slightly oversized bullets.
I guess my question is what are these really good for? Have any of you ever used them?
