Lucas Trans Treatment to replace grease

Not to long ago on here a member recommended STP for the bolt lugs. I’ve been using it and like it. It seems to stay there better than grease.

I saw a test using Motorcote in oil and it didn't look fake so I started using it. I put some in gun oil too. It is a high pressure lubricant. Years ago in the 70's I used something called Center Point Lube for a dead center on a lathe. At that time it's the only thing I found that would stay on header-to -exhaust pipes and didn't burn out or dry up. Can't find it anymore. As far as Motorcoat, I don't believe everything I see, usually I don't trust much of anything but this looks reasonable. Here's the video and you be the judge.

+1 on the mobile synthetic. I used it on a loader for a slasher set up. Greasing interval went from once a day, to once every 3 days. It stays put and is very slick.

My buddy uses synthetic engine assembly lube. I bet that works good.
I use it as well. It's a red, very tacky stuff. Works very well. Just think about it's intended use...on cam and lifters during initial start up and break in. You can hardly wipe the stuff off and it's very slick.

Here is the stuff my buddy uses:

Permatex Assembly Lube

6 bucks!!!
That's exactly what I use. I may be wrong but I don't think it's truly synthetic, though. The old stuff had a lot of zinc in it. That's the magic pixie dust, imo. Most oils no longer contain zinc in them and a standard flat tappet engine will not run long on it, anymore. Most everything now has roller cam and lifters and don't need the extra lubricity, so they got rid of the zinc.

Oh, and just a tiny dab on the lugs is plenty.

It's the cocking piece where the magic happens.
