LR Regional Oak Ridge, TN June 8-10 Attn: F-TR shooters

The Oak Ridge Sportsmen's Association will host a Long Range Regional (5x1000) on June 8-10 in Oak Ridge, TN. Friday, June 8, is practice/sighting-in all afternoon and possibly a Team match if enough interest is shown. Saturday is the typical 3 matches followed by a BBQ dinner. Sunday is 2 matches followed by awards.

Speaking of awards, last year the NRA only provided medals for "F-class" not separate medals for Open and TR. I've contacted the NRA, no answer yet, about what they are sending this year. (They never send the medals until the last minute). Last year the F-TR shooters were quite disappointed and I hear through the rumor mill are they are not planning to attend this year. If the NRA does not provide medals, I will provide separate awards for F-TR assuming enough F-TR shooters come to the match. My question to the F-TR shooters is: would you prefer a plaque, trophy, or just cash for awards? Unfortunately my budget does not allow cool prizes like barrels or scopes.

Please respond here or by email to larrysparks@chartertn.net
The sooner I receive your responses the better I will be able to arrange for awards.

Thanks,
Larry
Match Director

I'm showing up to shoot F-TR. I don't expect to shoot well enough to win any prizes (after shooting Oak Ridge twice I still have no idea what's going on with the wind there) but would prefer a plaque or trophy to cash in the highly unlikely circumstance I win something.

Officially 8am but it really starts when I get there usually around 7:30. At 9 I start squadding, 9:30 safety briefing and10:00 we start shooting assuming we can see the targets. Sometimes we have to wait until the fog clears.

Thanks Larry.

Hope Larry would consider putting canopys on the line. Looks like it’s going too be hot.
I would imagine that as long as he doesn't have to have anything to do with setting them up, and the entire firing line is covered for all shooters, and all shooters agree, Larry would probably be OK with it. I'm bringing mine just in case.

Where do most source their personal canopies?

Dicks(never again), Walmart, target, Academy Sports, etc. 10x10 is most common and makes it easiest to set up the line. They can usually be found on sale for around $40-$50.
