Lothar-Walther polygonal rifling. Anyone have comments or experience?

Someone asked me over on the M14 forum about doing a batch order of Lothar-Walther polygonal rifling M14 barrels.

I know nothing about polygonal rifling. Can anyone tell me why I might want or need one? I'm super pleased with their button rifled barrels already, but I'm open to new (to me) things.

Thanks,

Tony.

I purchased an 18" LW barrel back in 2013. (Medium profile with a mid-length gas system). I use it to hunt Prairie Dogs. After just shy of 3400 rounds it still shoots sub MOA+ at 100 yards. Despite all my efforts to 'shoot out this barrel' it simply continues to preform. I had standardized on White Oak Armory 26" Wylde chambered heavy varmint barrels (chambered in .223 Rem) for the my other 3 PD builds (In an effort to save a few $$). Bottom line, for a barrel that will continue to deliver round after round, L.W. delivers the goods...

My H-K.223 chambered polygonal is hammerforged and the bore looks like a straight tube, almost. Only the funny way light reflects shows that something is different. It came from Bill Wylde with his chamber back in'90. On a weeklong squirrel trip it took about 850-900 rounds before really getting broken in and cleaning up just like a top grade match barrel...no copper or powder fouling. I think this barrel should last about forever. Different makers have different polygonal configurations and what with LW stainless being so durable, I'd sure give one a try

Pac Nor barrels make polygon barrel also. Check them out. I had one in 6mm Remington for a short time. They did the re-barreling. As i remember it place 5 in 1 hole @ 100yds during load development. Very pleased with Pac Nor.

I’ve got a few black hole weaponry poly barrels 243LBC, 6.5Grendal, 223 and two 25-45 sharps all of them are excellent shooters. I know it’s not Lothar Walther but the poly barrels seem to just shoot.
