Looks like I got a bad press?

Just got my new Lyman "All American 8" turret press setup and mounted and have discovered a serious problem with it. It appears that 5 out of the 8 holes are not indexed properly and those 5 holes bend my decapping pin and snag on the brass badly. If you slightly turn the head to the right just a smidge it works fine but it wont stay because of the indexing detent ball. I have contacted Lyman to see what they will do,... or it may go back!

Wonder where they are made. I have heard a lot of company’s of late are making their presses over seas and the quality is slipping. But I don’t know where Lyman’s are made now. It’s why I started buying vintage presses off eBay

Well I thought it was the turret head that was just machined poorly but I found this problem and I have decided to return the press. Aint no fixing this issue! The ram has a horrific amount of side to side movement when at the top of the stroke. I made a video of it but cant post it here or at least I havent figured out how?

A lot of companies are outsourcing to China. A lot of junk comes out of China. Poisoned dog food, flooring with formaldehyde and cheaply machined tools. Sounds like you got one.

sometimes if it wasn't for bad luck you wouldn't have any luck at all,,it strikes everyone when you least expect it..

Get a Redding turret press. Excellent quality.

Get your money back and choose again. The “all chinese turret press” is not in the category of precision stuff.

I have a T-7 with 3 turret plates, that I really have depended on the last couple of years. When setting up the third plate, I found I had one hole with offset threads, that was contacting the case neck edge with an expander mandrel. Redding replaced it, but it shows you have to test each position for alignment on any turret press.

A good old Rock Chucker is the answer.

Made in USA, according to midway. Some people prefer a sloppy press, or dies that "float", universal shell holders with wiggle. Obviously yours is causing problems.

My first press was an aluminum lee O frame, lots-O-wiggle. My Rock chucher press didn't improve anything on target.
