looking to restock xp-100

with a little imagination and squinting your eyes just right you might be able to see a xp-100 rear grip finger groove stock in this picture. of course it will require sone cutting , shaping and sanding. te pistol grio cut is pretty straigh forward and the front cut would probably be an anglke cut close to 35-45* and fron rear to front.

richards microfit inlets for the 600/660 and i'm pretty sure that was the stock i used on my xp 22 ppc.

anyone put an xp-100 in a xp-100r (as in repeater) stock?

any thoughts from the brain trust?

i can't find anyone currently makingar grip stock for the xp-100. guess i could modify a xp-100r stock to fit, or so i have read.

1. The XP and the XP-100R are different actions, so a model 700 stock MAY not fit.

Ask Joel Russo what to do, he'll know.

Are you saying you want to take an xR-100 rifle stock cut it and use it on an xP-100 pistol? Just rying to figure on what you are doing.

I am no expert on the xR-100, but my memory tells me it was a model 7 action? I think the XP is different? Don't be mad at me cause I am not sure, just trying to pull old files from an old brain.

The model 7 is longer, but the same as a XR-100, and a XP-100 action will not fit a XR or a 7 with out a ton of work...

OK, thanks Preacher, that helps. Now we just need to know if the OP meant an XR or an XP, and which of those is a match to a 600/660....and which he has

My brain is tired

Fox hunter means just what he typed. Take the stock that is posted and cut it down for his xp 100.
Because of the lack of thought he used the r after the 100 to mean rifle.

my keyboard is like cats, it does what it wants. the question about the xp-100 and xp-100r had to do with the xp-100r repeater not the xr.

Thanks Foxhunter. Honestly, I did not see the dangling "r".

yep, I can "see" it. Do you think it will work out?

i have no doubt i can make it work with a minimum of work. Richards has the action pattern for the 600/660 and others they don't list. i am going to ask if they have the xp-100 or if they can inlet it for the 600 and not drill any holes. a rear escutcheons for the rear action screw will have to be bedded into the stock. the rear action screw goes down threw the top of the action. i will pillow bed the front action screw. cutting the stock looks pretty simple at the rear and some thought has to go into the front as to for-end length. i'm going to check and see if i can get the stock without the vents, life would be simpler.
as a guess i would say it would look like this by the time i get thru with sawing and sanding it will look like this;

or this

would look like this

I'm in the process of bedding an xp-100 in an XP-100R McMillan stock, it's really not that big a deal. The action screw holes have to be changed but after pillar bedding you will never know it was for an 'R.

The 100R stock has a magazine well with the front screw located about 1" forward of the 100 action screw and the 100R rear screw is located in the tang while the 100 rear screw is at the front of the bolt face then the bolt is open (in the 100R magazine well). Everything else is fine. If you are pillar bedding all this is easy to resolve.

The 600 inlet also works fine as a starting point. I bought a 600 barreled action at a gun show yesterday to build a 221 Fireball Varmint rifle and had forgotten about Micro Fit so thinks for the reminder.

This is a Savage build that started with a rifle stock.
