Looking to build a new 22BR set up to 55-60gr bullets.

IF 60gr. bullets are the heaviest you will ever shoot than a 12 twist will do just fine.

The .22BR has a long neck so,if it was me, i`d go zero freebore on the reamer.

I have a friend that shoots 69gr. bullets from his 12 twist 22BR,so i`d consider that MAX weight for that twist....

my 14 tw 22 BR will one hole repeatedly with 60 gr bergers. 52 fowlers shoot very well and very fast. my 12 tw prefers 63 cheeks but really likes 64 bergers. will have to try 69s in the 12 twist since i'v given up on my 9 twist 22 BRX .

i had to try this: shot some 63 cheeks using n140 in my 14 twist 22 BR. WOW AND DOUBLE WOW! 30.8 gr .020 into lands and 3 made a .087 in. hole! went up .2 gr and .108 in, .2 gr more and .207 in. hole. mv about 3400 fps. the 63s shoot in my 12 twist but not like this! wonder what 65 jlks will do?

This cartridge will shoot 50's and 55's better than you can imagine. Both of mine are 14 twist and making them shoot was easier than about any other gun. I'd go with no faster than 12 twist, and absolutely NO freebore.
