Looking forward to getting back to normal?

I have the good fortune of talking to shooters all over the country. Everyone agrees that we want to get back to normal asap. All I want to say is, its real easy to get back to normal. All you have to do is start acting normal again. When I hear about ranges canceling the whole season I feel like Im in the twilight zone.

If you are ready to get back to normal I have a spot for sale for the Nightforce ELR Steel Challenge June 13 and 14th at the Tillard Ranch in Glenrock, Wyoming. I am unable to attend due to a scheduling conflict. The match is a go and I understand there is a waiting list to get in. They have a Facebook page with info. PM me if interested.

Back to normal is definitely not up to me. The political leaders in my state have decided that there needs to be social distancing monitors at gun ranges to make sure no one gets too close. That means only the 100 yd range is open from 10-4. I can't do meaningful load development at 100 yds in the middle of the day.

When I would go to the 200 yd range, I usually had it all to myself. Occasionally there would be one or two other people on a 20 bench range. That range isn't open right now. I am not going back until the 200 yd range is open again like it was.

I have one rifle tuned and ready for matches. However, I can't shoot with a mask on because it steams up my glasses. I am looking for a better mask, but I am not even going to try and shoot through fogged up glasses.

Such is life living in a state run by a bunch of scaredy-cat progs.....

I would like nothing more and I don’t understand the rationale for canceling entire seasons either. That’s just giving up and un-American as far as I’m concerned. This country wasn’t founded by a bunch of people who believed in giving up and judging from the recent demonstrations, I have faith that we as a whole, still don’t believe in giving up.

When this pandemic started, I could understand the concern and I still do. We didn’t know what we were fighting and had to gather information. As far as ranges canceling entire seasons, I have no doubt liability concerns are part of it.

Individuals however need to decide how much risk they are willing to accept and act accordingly. It’s really not much different than other decisions in life, risk versus reward.

Please don’t think I’m not concerned about those who have been affected by this virus and have lost or are worried about losing loved ones, I truly am. Both of my daughters live in early “Hot spots”, NY and DC. Life is full of risks though, and cancer, heart attacks, auto accidents and the like are always present but we still try to live our lives making the best decisions we can.

When fear controls your life are you really living or just trying to exist?

Dave.

Dave I wished I had the words you just delivered great job let's go shoot.

Got 'er dun! Went to my 970 yard range this morning. From the ridiculous to the sublime. Did three target drills with the M9A3, Mozambique Drill. Two to the chest, third to the head. Even got Mamma to call sequences, 1-2-3 in varying order. Fun at 25 yds.
Then to the ridiculous side. Checking 100 vs 200 yd zero and shift in impact. With my wild dog 375/458 RUM Elephant rifle. 1.2" at 100 and 1.7" at 200 with less than 2" drop from the 100 yd zero. Both groups were 5-shot, four shots, and a reload. I will admit my reload times were a bit slower than with the Beretta. In my own defense, I can drop the bolt in the 458 and drop a loaded round of 9mm thru...

I am a happy camper.

I agree Dave and yes, liability is likely a real concern...but since when exactly, did the responsibility for catching the flu, a cold or anything remotely similar, become dependent on rifle matches instead of an individual responsibility? Crazy times we are living in, for sure.

I guess when governors started making unconstitutional executive orders limiting what we can do and how many can participate, is when it started. I can certainly imagine someone getting and dying of covid at a match that was held when/where or with too many people than "allowed", turning into a field day for some lawyer. I would say that a match held that violated one or more of these executive orders that ends up with someone getting sick, dying and/or spreading it to others putting a lot of liability on the club, club officers, match directors, the sanctioning body and possibly even attendees.

Again, crazy times, crazy lawyers and a crazy system without any value placed on personal responsibility.

I've shot at several matches this month. All had been normal for most.
A few you could tell were ready to throw up a cross at us vampires.
I also think "over kill" ...pardon the pun. But it's one of those things that can't be proven. Kinda like the chit my ex used to come up with.
"If we hadden't" we'll never know.

Here is a version I like better. @USMCDOC will understand why I like the verse that starts at 4:10 in......

I social distanced today in the boat, several nice smallmouth bass(one made 22"). And 2 walleye 1@18",1@18.5 volunteered to come home with me. The walleye will be making a guest appearance for lunch tomorrow. 200 204R brass and 300 Hornady 52 gr a max are the latest order.

Don't believe the government and most state governor's will allow normal again. Just think, in the last month or so, you have not heard of anyone dying from heart attacks, vehicle wrecks, falls in home/ladders, etc. etc. seems like every death recorded has been from Covid 19.
