Looking for recommendations

I have a ruger 44 mag carbine and am looking for the perfect scope, I was thinking not to big, around 2x7 range, a redical with two or three hash mark's for bullet drop, maybe a shotgun scope? what would you guys suggest?? Thanks

Had a Bushnell with a 20 year warrenty. It went bad after 23 years. Bushnell sent me a new free scope.

I have a Bushnell 3x9 from the 70s, thats very old on my 30-06 . Shot a lot. Works great.

My Savage Axis came with a 3x9 Bushnell scope. Looked it up, $50 scope, new. Gun has over 2400 rounds fired. No scope problems.

I have sent older Leupold & Redfield scopes back for repairs also. The 36x Leupold has many rounds fired on a 243. I dont like todays prices on many scopes. I think many are just over priced.

Bushnell has been around for years. Great service.

For a .44mag... a RED DOT SIGHT. Call it a day. Ain't nothing in killin range going to be so small you need magnification at the ranges that thing is useful at.

I have a Trijicon MRO and it would be good but a magnified Trijicon in the 2.5 to 4x range would probably be perfect if you can shoot two eyes open with some magnification, with the "Bindon aiming concept" and all that.

There are a bunch of low power variables that would work but maybe not as durable.

I think your reasoning is sound for the firearm and caliber you are dealing with. A carbine doesn't require a tall scope and your yardage is probably 150+ yards maximum (yes, I know the .44 is deadly much further away but we need to be reasonable). To keep the balance and handling characteristics of such a short, light firearm, I would choose a low-mounted 2-7 or 3-9 power with a 30mm tube. No large objective bell to get in the way and certainly no tall turrets. Hash marks on the reticle are not a bad idea as long as you realize you will have to determine the exact POI of each with your load at varying powers. Shotgun scopes aren't a bad idea either as long as you remember that they are normally "parallax free" at 75 yards rather than the 100 or 150 yards of non-adjustable objective scopes intended for center-fire rifles.
