Looking for New 6MM BR, any suggestions on a Gunsmith or Where to get one??

James Peightal came to our super shoot last year. He is very knowledgable and also makes and inlets his own stocks as well. If I ever built a custom match 22lr he would be the man for the job his 22s he had to display were great looking and the group he had shot with them was very impressive.

Give Ray Boman a call from Precision Rifle and Tool 336-214-5381. He is building the 6mm LR. Not sure of the specifics with the cartridge but it will shoot the heavier DTAC 115 grn bullets. You cant beat Precision Rifle and Tools customer support.

i'm lucky....he's about 1 1/2 hour ride from me.

I just had Mr. Gary O'Cock build a F/Open gun for me using a BAT action, Krieger barrel and McMillan F-Class stock in 284 Winchester. His work is the best I have ever had and I would recommend him to anyone. The gun shoots superbly!

I would give bob white a call, he has worked on some of my guns and is a fantastic smith who needs no introduction. He's also about the nicest guy in the universe. He's got a *large* inventory of used benchrest rigs, I would imagine predominantly chambered in 6ppc however he could put a new barrel on one and chamber it in 6br for you. If it was me, Id go in that direction, cost you a little bit more than a new savage but you'll get 100 times the gun. All the rifles Ive ever seen at his place are in real nice condition, too. I wish I had gone this route when I got into custom rifles, would have saved me some money in the big picture figuring out what worked and what didnt.

+1 on Bob White/Shooters Corner. Try Lester Bruno. He usually has something used and almost always in the best condition. +1 on local matches. You can genrally shoot b4 you buy there. Used gun delivery in about 4 days. New gun delivery in a year to year and a half. Remember a custom gunsmith built that used custom gun. Who built the factory gun?
We bought from both the named and won money and club matches/championships with those guns. You can get a new barrel easier. I know if you buy a Stolle actioned gun, you can call Kelblys and order a barrel over the phone. Get it, twist it on, good to go. Maybe others do that too but I know bout Kelblys.

i've always thought it was a good idea to see who's local to you. Jim borden (northeast PA)who is known for building some of the best stuff out there and has a great reputation for his service and business...is only about 1.5 hours from my house....so that was obviously...a no brainer

it's always nice to be able to introduce yourself and shake someones hand.

+1 on jriggs said. I am one that likes to do business in person vs. over the phone, call me old fashioned! I like to get to know whos doing work for me too that way its just easier in the future when you need more work done ! If they have the personality of a rabid pitbull, they don't get any more work from me ! Thats just how it is!
