Looking for load info on 62gr hornaday hpbt...

Using the MId-South, 62 grain Hornady HPBT bullets in a 1-9 twist .223 bolt gun with 25 grains IMR8208 gave good results. 27 grains of Hodgdon 223CFE also worked. Drop at 300 was .5 mil with a 200 yard zero. Bullets were seated some distance out from cannelure so they almost touched lands - no magazine constraints. Consecutive hits on 3 inch diameter steel at 300.

Try this:
62 grain fmj m855 or lead core
24 grains of X-Terminator or AA2230 (Same powder)
CCI 400
Lake City brass trimmed to Crimp I don’t remove the burr as the crimp is more accurate. Try it from a 1-9 twist or 1-8 twist

I was able to purchase these 62gr BTHP bullets after a couple years of "out of stock" status. I was beginning to wonder if Hornady had discontinued this product, but thankfully that is not the case. They are available in 250 bullet bags, a few pennies more per projectile now compared to a few years ago.

If you can not get a good group with what is listed in Hornady's Data site, Email or call their Tech line and talk to them, see what they tell you.

I have shoot these as well and thought the same thing. Even emailed Hornady as to if they had been disco'd.. Pleased to see them back in the shelves.
