I recently noticed that Leica has launched a new Noctivid flagship binocular line that incorporates Leica's world renowned camera lens technology. This has me very intrigued because I loved my Ulravid BR binos back in the day, but when the new HD coatings and flourite lens technologies came about, the old BR's just couldn't compete anymore. The Leica Ultravid HD and HD Plus had excellent glass, but I personally felt they didn't quite deliver the picture of the new Swarovski Swarovison line. I eventually ended up with my current Meopta Meostar HD binoculars instead of a new set of Leica's since I could not tell a difference in the Meopta HD glass when compared to the Swarovsion glass. But there sure was difference on the price tag. I love my Meopta HD glass, but this new Noctivid has grabbed my interest because I really do miss the amazing color saturation that Leica glass provides. If these new Noctivids are as sharp as my Meopta's and still provide the color saturation I remember from my Ultravid BR's, I may have to make a move back to Leica.
I've been reading as many reviews from birding enthusiasts and whatever else I can find and the general consensus seems to be that the Noctivids are a big jump up from the Ultravid HD Plus binoculars. Most reviewers talk about an unbelievable 3D style image with the unmatched color contrast that Leica has always been known for. I really like the new open hinge body design as well. Just looking for more input from any of you folks that have had the chance to get your hands on a pair. Hopefully input comparing the Noctivids to the Swarovski EL Swarovision or Zeiss Victory SF (2016+ Black) binoculars. Thanks.
