Looking for information on this front rest

Gentlemen,

A good friend of mine just bought this rest at a flea market. It was produced in 1941 by a North Hollywood gunsmith by the name of H.J. Schmidt. It's got to be one of the earliest dual post elevation front rests I've ever seen. Now I know that some of our members are old enough to have lived during the time this rest was produced. Does anyone have any knowledge or information about this rest?

That is really clever right there.You should try googling the fellas name,you would be surprised what is out there. Ps: I googled him and cant find anything.
