Looking for info in MN from current F-class regulars

I'm in the Minneapolis area and am looking for someone to talk to about shooting several matches this year. I have shot several matches in the past and just looking to get a few more details about a few places. Mainly looking to shoot at Elk River several times or surrounding area. Mainly wondering about how I go about signing up to shoot in league or if they have matches I can just show up to.

None of my friends shoot, so I'm kind of alone out here since I moved a few years ago and I should be in a position to start shooting again on a regular basis.

You can check the schedule on the Minnesota Rifle and Revolver Association's [MRRA] website. I'll pm you my phone number if you have any questions.

Scully is sort of a big deal around here as far as F-Class goes, he'll steer you in the right direction. Take a look at the calendar for MN and surrounding states here:

https://lifeofashooterswife.com/calendar/

It's in a much easier to read format than the MRRA calendar. You can subscribe to the site if you'd like to get a weekly newsletter with reports on past matches, news about upcoming events, etc during the season, as well as other stuff. Just a disclaimer, this is my wife's web page, but she does a heck of a lot of work to keep info updated for shooters in this area.

Good luck,
Erik

I sent you a PM.

All great advise. Went to a few in Minnesota in 2016. Great shooters and a fun bunch of guys. Range can have some very tricky winds. It's still fun shooting with that group of guys. I will always make it a point to shoot there just because of the fun and BS that goes on there. Hopefully see you there in 2017.

For any others that are reading this post, forum member saunaking (see above) is the league director at Elk River. PM him for details. The 2017 season is soon to start ramping up.

Hey, easy now! That's just the f-class MN shooters who don't know what they're doing. Us sling guys come over and win most of the WI matches every year!

Thanks again to everyone, I was able to talk with Mr. P Scully, and need to give the Saunaking a call.

I just looked through my old log book and my last F-class match score card. Shot a 389-16X with my 280 RCBS at 3 & 600. Had about a 18-20mph wind at about 140°. Dropped most of my points at 300 and got most of my X's @ 600. I was still using my old Nikon BuckMaster 4.5-14X40 scope. Upgraded to a little nicer Nikon 6.5-24X50 and have not shot since 2012. forgot the exact # but I only have about 300 rounds down my barrel with this chamber, so have only done minimal load development. I need to get to a longer range and do some better load development.

Just wanted to put up a quick reminder to those who may want to attend our summer F-class league matches and attach an updated program copy for the Dan Whalen Memorial Tournament. A mailing address for registration is now included on the program. Looking forward to seeing a bunch of you soon. The Saturday afternoon matches are mainly there for newer shooters to have HM's from the surrounding area help them understand wind & mirage situations prior to taking their shots.
