For that kind of money, I doubt you will be able to beat the iconic, and no longer made, JJ Loh front rest. None are made finer, maybe with more bells and whistles, but none offer finer craftsmanship or precision. At the budget you have stated, that will be your BEST bang for the buck. And you can shoot it and pass it on to your kids and grandkids to use -- and win with. You should be able to find a clean JJ Loh front rest for that kind of money; and your buddy will be glad he got it.

If you want a great front rest for half that budget, the ORIGINAL Bald Eagle cast iron front rest with windage top is very hard to beat. You can also add a joystick to it if you are into that option.

The Sinclair rests are decent and strong.
