Looking for Aoudad guide, TX

You should contact Joe Nagy at Winchester Ridge. Nice guy. I’ve had dinner with him a few times. His father was a somewhat renowned Benchrest shooter, back in the day. His wife is a good friend of my wife and she’s a real sweetheart.
I used to come down here years ago and scoff at the prices guys charged for exotic hunts. Now that I live here on an Exotic ranch, I can tell you it takes a lot to feed and manage the animals. They are a commodity and not cheap to purchase, initially. Then they have to raise them until they become a trophy animal. That takes years.

I live there. Everythings expensive. They used to kill em off like hogs, but everyone started paying big money for them so 5k is a norm on up is a norm. People pay it, but thats why ive never shot one...
High Desert Hunting is an outfitter I know personally. They've gotten clients on some big aoudad. They got a facebook page. Its a guy named Will and a buddy that run their little outfitter deal. But they have access to good land around Alpine.

Right, the guys I’ve talked to who have lived out there talked about aoudad like they were a vermin. This is why the $5k price tags have shocked me.
Exactly. Theres still ranches that just shoot em like coyotes. But everyone is money hungry out there.

Yup! Before I moved here, guys talked about how bad the hog problem was. I offered to come down and “help”. “Sure” , they said! $500 a hog!
I’m not complaining too much I’m a free market capitalist and the ranchers found a marketable commodity. Good for them it just surprised me.
At the guide Josh was kind enough to reference you can shoot a scimitar horned oryx for $5k. A trophy like that makes an aoudad hunt for almost the same price seem ridiculous.

Ya thats abunch of bs. We let friends and all hunt hogs free on our place. Everyone likes to bitch about hogs, but wants money for em. Dang hypocrites. If you pay for other animals. Hogs are usually free on game ranches.
I cant pay for killing nothing. Only if I go to Africa. Thats why ive never killed axis or aoudad, blackbuck, etc..
For 5k you can go to africa and kill one and a few others. Why spend that money here...

It’s just a lead. I haven’t hunted with him. He’s a nice guy and likes his ribeye medium rare. You SHOULD search around. I know it’s a crapshoot. We have Aoudad on this property. In the 3 months I’ve been here, I’ve seen the herd once! If you Shot one, all the women here would be hunting you! They consider them pets. Otherwise, I’d say “come on down here”!
I think a man should do what he likes to do. Personally, I’m with Sniper338! I won’t pay to hunt. Never did, never will. $5k would buy me a nice Bench gun, a freezer full of prime beef and a picture of an Aoudad to hang on the wall!
Add on: I’ll tell you one thing that tics me off! I heard all about the “hog problem. Darn things are everywhere!” I’ve taken my gun out three times, sneaking around the 300 acres and I haven’t seen a hog yet!
Either I found the only place in Texas with no hogs or I’m not as sneaky as I used to be!

They are smart little bastards. They learn real quick. Night vision and suppressors or choppers !
Of course some use dogs and knives if your really crazy.
Yep, they catch on quick.
We tried suppressors but no luck. They hear the bullet slap one of them, and they all high tail it.
