Looking for ANY INFO about 22/6mm

Hi everyone,
I have this Small Ring Mauser action and last night I came across a 22/6mm barrel that is threaded for my action. Where do you buy the dies? I understand that you take 6mm cases and neck them down to 224.
I am not sure I will get the barrel bought but it would be perfect for this build, because I will be doing everything even setting the head space with the help of a good friend that has been a gun smith since 1964. What I want out of this build is to have a fun gun to shoot that I don't have a boat load of money in it! I allready have my stock and scope.
Looking for input and or options????? Please!
Greg

Hornady makes a fairly cheap die set (FL + seater) for the 22-6mm. Or, you could also use a 6mm Remington bushing die with the appropriate size bushing.

I'm on my second rifle currently. My first was a 12 twist barrel that I ended up selling to a member here. My current rifle is a 8 twist built on a Savage long action. I'm still working on loads so I can't give you any hard data.

I am in the process of building one know, ordered my dies from Redding. They were not cheap about $160 for the 3 die set but you cant beat Redding.Bobby

Thanks guys!! I didn't want to buy something that no one ever shoot?
Lets say that you have your 22/6mm sited in at 100 yards how much drop would you say there would be at 400 yards?
I have a AR Target Rifle I put togehter ( you noticed I said put togehter) that is a TAC driver with JUNK ammo! I have never took the time to dev. loads for it! But this 22/6mm I will be able to say built!
Again, I welcome all advice good or bad!
Greg
I will post a pic of my AR Target and my 243WSSM AR.

Thanks for the link Doc, but I am not a member there! Just way to many places to donate or pay the fee for use, you just can't belong to everything! People think I am tight because I havn't bought Quick Load, I keep hope ing that someone will buy it and hate it and sell it for about 1/2 price Ha Ha! :o I am sure that a lot of us have noticed that we spend a lot more money in the winter than we do in spring thru fall, or least I do!
I think it is Cabin Fever?

If you have it or know someone who does, the Hornady 7th edition reloading manual has 22-6mm data in it.

Run the ballistics for a 75g A-max running 3500-3600 fps......

The down side? Barrels don't last too long!

If your going to build one I would recomand you go with an 8 twist and go with the Sierra 80 MK or the 80 Berger bullets. I have burn up 1 barrel so far an had it set back and rechambered. It burned the throught out at abt. 1000 round and now seem to shoot about the same as it did. The only time I ever put it on a target at 600 yrds. I put 3 shots in a 2 in. group, I think I could have done alittle better if would not have been so windy. I would go with a 30 in. barrel so you can set it back acouple of times, mine are only 28`s. I like Savage action because you can head space the barrels so easy yourself. In fact I now have a 243 barrel in the 22-6mm designated actoin just to put a few rounds down it befor I ream it out to 6-284. Mag Pro powder seemed to get me the best velocity, but accuracy with it was to poor to use it. Just try other powders near it on the burn rate chart and you should have no trouble finding a good load. H-1000 should do very well also. If you need more info PM me and I`ll try to help you.
