Looking For A Gunsmith In The Houston Area

Moved out to Texas awhile back, considering another project, so I'm looking for a professional precision gunsmith, no more than about a half days drive or so. I don't like to ship things anymore, while insurance covers losses, it doesn't cover my wasted time starting a project all over again.

Main thing is, done right the first time.

I have a friend who is a gunsmith>>Omar Alonzo, who lives in Pasadena, very near Deer Park. Look at the posting "My Re-Made F-Open Rifle"... Omar did the work..

Thanks for the replies, but everyone feel free to add to the list.

The plan is to rebuild a .223 VS-SF, the recipient of a less than satisfactory re-barreling for 300 yard reduced target F/TR. Looking at using a variation of an old .222 benchrest load using 40 grain bullets at using Lapua brass with a no turn chamber. It's worked well in the past.

It would be nice to see a strike in the center of the primer for a change.

You have:
Bryan Custom (Mike Bryant) - Wheeler, TX
S&S Precision - Argyle, TX
King's Armory (Richard King) - Arlington, TX
Tumbleweeds custom rifles (Mark Pharr) - Round Rock, TX

There's four of the best in the business for you.

Another one to consider is Evelio McDonald. He did an Anschutz 22 K-Hornet conversion for me after someone local botched it, he does very nice work at reasonable cost & turnaround was quick. Check him out.

+1 for Mark Pharr. Just had a 6XC put together by Mark Pharr (Tumbleweeds) in Round Rock. Great guy, great work, and the gun shoots fantastic.

Garland Gilbreath in Stephenville is probably within a couple hundred miles from Houston - in Texas that's just 'round the corner. Seriously, did a great job for me - see his link below:

I will second Pete Pieper,Precision Barrel Work, in Hempstead, Texas. I do not do gunsmithing for anybody. Thanks For the recommendation Erik

+1 for Triple G. Garland has built me a 7mm Rem Mag and is currently building a 6mmBR for me. And he has built several rifles for friends of mine. All of the rifles that he's built that I have seen in action have been "hole burners". I know that he's not in the Houston area. But he is a great smith.
