Looking for a competent gunsmith to extend magazine on a Rem. 1917 action.

I am looking for a competent gunsmith who can extend the magazine of a Remington 1917 action to accommodate .404 Jeffery cartridges. The work involves, as I see it:
1.- Extending the internal length of the magazine by removing the front wall and welding it to the forward end of the magazine box, so tha it will accommodate loaded rounds. I can provide 1 or 2 dummy rounds for this.
2. Milling approximately 0.100" from the action and the bottom metal to accommodate the extended the magazine.
3. Polishing as necessary to ensure reliable feeding. The rifle feeds effortlessly in its present single shot mold.

If capable and interested, please send me a PM.

Thank you in advance,

Joaquin aka Arizonajake

I had the exact same idea twenty years ago. I wanted to build Rigby. Everyone told me to get a different action or build a .458 win. I never finished the project.

Good luck, I hope you do it!

Wyatt used to do a extended magazine, it required the milling of the action and wasn't to hard to get it to feed nicely. Did mine in 375 H&H, it was a few years ago and I'm half a world away down under.

Look up Chuck Moline in CO, warpath vintage, he works exclusively on milsurp rifles. He rebarreled my 1917 several years ago, I think it was 2.5 weeks door-door.
