Looking for a battery powered powder trickler

I have a midway -- works pretty good. Didnt know they were still making them.

I think my switch got funky and it got demoted...

I think it's a Battenfield Technologies model, not by Lyman.
Midway dosen't have them in stock at the moment.
Do you think they are worth the bother?

Vibrashine makes a good unit.,These guys also make very good tumblers). You may have to mount it on a base to clear some of the taller digital scales.

"Features include a clear dispensing tube for observing the powder flow, a push button momentary switch and adjustable height and position on the dispensing tube. The VibraShine Powder Trickler handles all conventional, ball, stick or flake powder types."

Asa cautions that some of the Radio Shack part numbers have changed so you must be careful making substitutions or motor failure may result. Asa says the mods work as claimed but he substituted a remote bench mounted switch for the foot pedal illustrated.
Danny,
It isn't motor failure that is the problem. Not all rheostats available from Radio Shack are rated for the current load that the motor draws, surges due to brushes making and breaking contact with the rotor of a DC motor). Using the wrong rheostat in this application results in meltdowns or burnouts.

The remote switch is nice, because you're not always reaching for the button on the unit. You might pick up some time that way, but better yet is that you're not having to make a full motion reach on a repeated basis. You don't get as tired as a result. Using a 2 oz microswitch requires less effort to actuate, but more importantly, ensures that the trickler motor spins up. With the supplied switch on the unit, sometimes you have to press fairly hard to make contact.

Got a call from VibraShine this morning and they are sending me one so I will in fact be able to compare the two units side by side. I'll do an honest comparison and perhaps do a Blog on the subject.

Dreever, How did you end up liking that Vibrashine trickler? I am interested in getting that unit. Let me know. magical_merlin@comcast.net.

Merlin,

Did you read my review in the Blog section? All my thoughts are there.

For twenty bucks, you can't hardly go wrong with either one, although the VibraShine is the only one with a long enough reach for electronic balances.
