Not new, the 250-3000 cartridge has been out since 1915.

The 250-3000 Savage is the parent case for the 22/250 Remington.

A 250 Savage Headstamp would be fine but it may be more of a collector item. I want to shoot this rifle but don't care to use brass someone else converted from another caliber.

250-3000 is the same as 250 savage. I think youd find the 250 brass easier than a 250-3000 because the 250-3000 brass is the actual collectors item. If you want to make brass on the cheap 22-250 necked up to 25 cal will work. I really enjoy my 2 guns in 250 savage and they are great with 90 grain bullets for paper, deer, and woodchucks.
