Longshot question for 9MM ppc load

pirate ammo

Guaranteed to take the wind out of their sails
does anyone have a starting point for loading 9mm for PPC compitition, type of powder you use
would be helpful also.By the way, what is Commercial#5 powder related to.

We're using 124GR Precision Delta bullets.

we are working up a 9mm load right now for a Glock 34- 4.2gr of tight group with a 124 gr jacketed rn. been shooting real well in the Glock so far, and it is mild to shoot. We got the starting point from the Hodgdon web site. good luck

Any minor power factor for pistol works for PCC that I have tried.
Some will load a little hotter depends on how you want your particular gun to feel i.e. Recoil and how the dot tracts. Then you can also tune and play with buffer systems too with the load you like.
Some loads I use or have used in my JP gmr13
115 Montana gold just 4.2 to 4.5 N320
124 mg 4 - 4.2
147 mg 3 something would have to look
That's with a Blitzkrieg hydraulic buffer, spacer, and 308 spring

I am running 3.7gr of Titegroup under a 124gr RN in my 10.5" barreled PCC. As has been mentioned, you may have to tune the buffer/bolt carrier weight to your load.

3.4-3.7g of Tightgroup seems to be a sweet spot in a lot of pistols with 124 jacketed...light recoil.

Self defense-7.8g of AA#7 with 124 at ~1200 fps will get the job done. This is very, very accurate with 124g bullets of several makes.

Few play with OAL.

.005 difference in OaL can be horrible or a miracle...will not take you long to figure this out and expect huge changes in group size at 25 yards.

Also, if you are wanting the best, just go with VV N320. I use Titegroup in my PCC because it is cheap and I have a lot of it. I use N320 in my match pistol loads. It is by far the most consistent powder I have used and does deliver results that are measurably better in my experience.

I think the OP wants PPC, not PCC.

N320, Titegroup, N330, Power Pistol are some of the most accurate 9mm powders out there. I've recently been playing with Sport Pistol, and it's very good also. I would look to make 1050fps (with a 124gr) and see what shoots the best. 1100-1150 with a 115. The 'ol Marvel Precision 9mm PPC load was a bunch of Power Pistol, and I think it was 1200+fps.

In my experience shooting Bianchi.. If your gun is up for the challenge, Precision Delta may not cut it for the accuracy standards of PPC. I would look towards Zero, Hornady or Sierra options.

N320,N330 figures,,got a load of 3N37,N350 & N310

looks like speed is going to count a lot in this venture.Everywhere I've checked it looks like powder wise it's Power Pistol, titegroup or N320..make them Hot let them Rock,,sort of.

I like testing loads with pistols and getting the smallest groups out of my pistols is also fun and challenging.
So thus far the best accuracy has always been with 147 grainers. And berry's RN 147 gr is my go to bullet.

N320 recoil feels more like a progressive push compared to titegroup.

To me, 147 gr bullets recoil feels a lot less snappy than lighter 115-125.

I also tried Universal, but didn't like how it metered. It shot good tho.

Another thing I noticed is light loads with lighter bullets give lethargic extraction/ejection. But with 147 gr bullets the ejection is perfect with very light loads.

The two 9mm pistols I shoot with are Sig P-226 and Wather Q5 Match.

10 shots at 9 yards...

5.0 gr N330 with a HAP or Zero conical 115. Should be under 1.5" at 50 yards. Auto comp is another choice but dirty until about 5.7 Gr.

For PPC shooting the make or break accuracy is at 50 yards. The best PPC pistols will put 10 rounds into a group under 1.5 inches.

The below is accuracy from a Chambers PPC pistol. 115 JHPs and Power Pistol. I asked Joe to use a KKM barrel.

Under 1.5" at 50 yards with a pistol off hand ??? damn that's some serious skill.
Farthest I've shot mine is 25 meters and was VERY ecstatic with a 2.5" group. I never cared for pistols till 3 years ago, and judging by the PPC accuracy standards I have a long way to go !
