Im just getting around to putting up this video I took. I thought it was kind of a cool way to check my work. I have described many times on here how you can check your accuracy with the long stem indicators. You just use one to dial in a muzzle and then check it with your .0001 indicator. Thats also how you learn to use the long stems, they are more finicky and you have to develop a technique. Anyhow, I had this barrel I chambered and when I bore scoped it I saw some tool marks about 2" in front of the throat. I have never seen marks like this in a barrel before. Someone was obviously in there doing something they should not have been. So I cut 2" off the barrel to rechamber it. Luckily the blank was plenty long. Well, I ended up cutting the barrel right at the freebore of the original chamber. When I put it back in the lathe I saw that and thought it would be good to check the alignment of the throat to the grooves. The grooves were not perfect in this barrel, they probably had a strong .0001 of error in the radius. So you have to dial them in the same place which I tried to do in the video. The chamber was cut with no pilot. It takes forever to upload so I kept it short. Point is, I have read and saw the videos knocking the long stem indicators. I just wanted to ad my experiance. Which has been like this every time I have checked my work.
