Long seating depth...

I just received my build and they cut the throat long so I could load the bullet out further, however, just measured bullet seating depth to the lanse and the neck of the shell only grips the bullet 1/8". Is that OK? Safe? I know it doesn't give me much room to chase the lanse as it burns down.

Any feedback greatly appreciated

There certainly would be some minimum "safe" amount of bullet shank in the neck, but different people might have different ideas about what that is. You can load some dummy rounds to test how tightly the bullets are "gripped" in the neck very easily. If necessary, you can also seat the bullets at distances farther off the lands. If they shoot well, that will help with the issue. Finally, you may be able to get a small amount of neck back by increasing your trim length. For example, many .308 chambers will accommodate a case with OAL of ~2.010" to 2.012" without any trouble. Someone trimming cases to the fairly common 2.005" length could easily get back .005" simply by extending their trim length to 2.010". It's not a huge amount, but if you're right on the edge, every little bit helps. Having a reamer print would be helpful to determine how much (if any) of that distance you could get back.[/QUOTE

Thanks for advice.
