long range varmint hunting

Well I have been off this board for a few years, I want to get back hunting Groundhogs, for 5-6 yrs I have had excellent results out to 500-600 yds with a Savage model 12 BVSS in 223, using the 75 Amax bullet at 3000fps, I do have a 6BR I played with for a yr, it has a 28 or 29 inch 8 twist Pac Nor on a Savage action, If I want to give this rifle a try at chucks, what bullet will do the job as good or better than the 22 cal 75gr Amax. trying to keep as flat as possible, I know the 75 Amax is not real flat at 3000fps, by I have had good luck with my ballistic software,so where do I start with bullets on par and what velocity should I be trying to get.

thanks
Chet

For the 6BR, I would try the 105grn A-Max, 87grn V-Max or the 95grn Berger VLD. The 6BR will push the 105grn A-Max around 2900 to 3000fps out of a 28" barrel.

Believe you will be pleasantly surprised if you try a 70 or 75 grain bullet in the 6BR at..oh...say 3400+ fps.
