Long range matches, Tri-Cities WA. Whos going this weekend?

I am thinking of making the very early and long trek from Tacoma to Tri-Cities on Sunday for the 2x1000 yd match. Anybody from on here going? Anybody from Tacoma? It would be great to link up with a couple fellow members. Ill be shooting FT/R and this will be my first 1000 yd match. Let me know if you are headed that way too!!

Nice, I have to work Saturday otherwise Id probably go then as well. The wife is out of town, so Im free to go shoot as I please and spend as much time doing it as I want! Any tips for shooting at Rattlesnake?

Your guess will be as good as mine - I haven't been out to Rattlesnake before... :-) It was a little too far for me to easily make the trip in past years. From what I hear, the wind can be "challenging".

Great :( Not what i wanted to hear for my first long range match.

You just gotta roll with it - it's a learning opportunity, right? :-) Who knows, we might get calm conditions. I'm actually hoping for some wind - I know I can pull the trigger with anyone, but compensating for conditions is what sets the top of the scoresheet apart from the rest.

I learned a great deal the first time I went out there by just talking with the folks who have been there before and understand the range. Most folks are more than willing to give you some insight.

I still have a great deal to learn about that range and understanding the wind conditions, but every time out there is a chance to learn something new.

Does anybody have a range report or top 5 list for this match? I was at the public range looking up at the 1k line, and I noticed that the large flag was indicating a stiff crosswind, just wondering how folks did in those conditions.

I haven't seen the official scores be listed, so I don't know how the top 5 sussed out. As for a range report: it was windy. Like, dial-in-8-feet-or-more-of-windage windy. Like my-rifle-case-tried-to-fly-away-in-the-middle-of-my-string windy. Holy-crap-it's-so-damn-windy windy.

So, it was pretty windy... :-)

Score's were appropriately commensurate.

"Windy" doesnt describe it! Fastest gust I saw on my wind meter between relays was 42 MPH! Wind was blowing from the 7 o' clock position and I had 15min of wind dialed and still was holding middle 8 ring to the left. Good shooting to Jay who took first place in F-class

Sounds like it was a little breezy up at the high power range. Down below at the public range I was trying to keep the grit out of my eyes and failing; nothing like what you guys up top went thru though. Hope everybody had a good time, thanks for the info.

I lived in the Tri-cities for a couple of yrs back in the early 90s. Back in those days I was racing mountain bikes and doing tons of road riding for training. (thus the XTR handle) Holy hurricanes can the wind blow out there.

I once did a solo century from Kennewick over to Dayton, down to Walla Walla and back up to Kennewick via Pasco. I had ~60 miles behind me when I made the turn back up to the tricities. On the way to Dayton I was flying, the leg to Walla Walla I was in the shadow of the hills. Holy hell, when I made the turn in Walla Walla! Wind was blowing so hard I could barely get out of the little ring going down hill. Some of the most brutal miles I ever logged on a bike. I swear if there had been cell phones in those days I may have called for a pickup.

Where do you guys shoot? Is it the range over on Rattlesnake or somewhere else?
