Long Range Bullet

Since the Hornandy 105 6mm bullet is not available. Can anyone recommend another 105/115 gr bullets for varmints that will expand on Ground Hogs.

107 Sierra Match King works on prairie dogs. Try the 85 gr. HPBT Sierra game king, they are great bullets, I shoot them to 1500 yds. on Prairie dogs, cheaper also. Shot a hog at 300 with a 243 super rock chucker with 85 and cleaned the carcass.

I know it's not a 105/115 however the Berger 88 grain High BC Flat base does very well in my 6X47L.

I like the 87gr Vmax they kill like a lighting bolt.

The 105 hybrid Bergers have worked well for me on groundhogs, coyotes, foxes, and deer. All dead on impact with big exit wounds. I had one nearly cut a decent size red fox in half this weekend.

I would not recommend the 107SMK. I killed a handful of chucks with them in a 6AI from 300 to 630+ yards. All pencil holed, including a 300 yard headshot. Yes, they all died, but several made it to the hole before bleeding out. The headshot looked like a 3/4" drill bit went through its head. Other's results may very well differ, but that is when I switched to the A-Max. I'd look hard at 95-105 Bergers or as others stated, the 87 V-Max. Good luck on the fields. I missed three tonight.

Some good suggestions but the problem is getting them No one seems to have the Berger's or Hornady's or even the Sierra's. I do have some of the hybrids but wasn't sure they would give good expansion especially at long range. I guess I'll have to try them.

I cant speak much to the long range expansion of the hybrids. Longest live target was a small 450yd coyote. He was quartering away and shot behind the shoulder but he looked like he had a softball exit his chest.

Hmmm, very interesting. I'm down to 1824 of the 105 Amax bullets. When I run out, I will have to give the 105 Hybrid a try.
