Long Range Benchrest Shooters in WI?

Yes, there are a few of us. I also know several more that would like to be but the big problem is a range to shoot both practice and matches.

While I've competed at 1000 yards out of state, I think the best potential would be 600 yards to draw the most shooters. I would also suggest starting with informal (non-sanctioned) matches until shooters in the area adapt.

They exist. Join one of the ranges and find a shooter or two to partner up with: WI Rapids, Eau Claire, Wausau, LaCrosse, Lodi, Racine County Line...

For years I made internet searches for long range benchrest matches in WI. I shot a few in Wausau, but they were not offered often.
Now we have a nice range in Columbus WI, we have had 5 IBS matches, and we have a Balloon Shoot this weekend. Many of our contestants are coming from out of state. That is why I ask the question. I thought we should have 10-20 on any given day from Wisconsin.

If there are long range benchrest shooters in WI how do I reach them? I have made several post here and sent fliers to many gun shops, reloading stores, and ammo stores.

Thanks for your help!

Terry

Terry,

I suggest you consider sending an info packet to the gun clubs within 2 hour drive of your range (about 70). Include match details, schedules, costs, membership requirements (your club and/or IBS) and of course directions (map and GPS coordinates). Please include a link to your club website.

Mr. Ten-X -

Are these ranges you listed hosting Long Range Benchrest matches like the OP (Terry) is referring?
Or are they High Power/Palma/FClass ranges?

Never new of any 600/1000 Benchrest ranges in Wisconsin until Columbus started hosting 600-BR this spring.

Those are NRA-affiliated ranges. The first step is identifying the ranges that go 600-1000yds and they are the one's that I have listed. Have no idea if any of them shoot BR events. It will likely require one to join the club and start the game themselves because I cannot imagine there are that many doing it. But, who knows?

This is the club list w/contacts:

Terry,

Our range seems to have missed the list. This may be because we are new (75 years) or small (2400 members)? Please include us if you do a mailing:

The Duaine Corbin range in Wausau hold 3 matches over the summer months at 600 yards, they usually have 10-15 serious shooters and that amount of guys just for fun shooting what they brought. I'm in OK now and have yet to dig up all my old contact list.

Here is the range record, shot when Ryan wanted to try my gun and shot this group with no sighters.
