Long eye relief or scout scope?

I have a few Leupolds 2.5-8 pistol scopes and a red dot on another. I know others use rifle scopes on theirs.

I would think it depends on the way you are going to use it. Arms extended, long eye relief. Prone supported, eye not too far back, intermediate. The 221 doesn't have a lot of recoil so a medium power such as the old 12x Leupolds with a deep eye relief might be just the thing.

What are you going to do with it? I'm pretty new to shooting pistols with scopes on them. I have a leupold scout on a 6.5 Grendel for deer hunting because of the greater field of view than dedicated pistol scopes. If I was shooting much smaller things I would want higher power and therefore less field of view so I might try a rifle scope.
Leupold used to talk about the "triangle" of eye relief, magnification, and field of view. By increasing one you must decrease another.
