Long Distance Range in/around Naples, Fl??

Anyone know if there is a 600-1000yr range close to Naples, FL. Going to be spending a few days there late this week and thought I'd carry my gun if one was close. Any info is appreicated!!

If I remember correctly, there aren't any 1K ranges in Florida. 600, yes. A few 300 too.

I was just down in Naples / Bonita Bay on business two weeks ago; before I went I did a search for ranges anywhere in the area & came up almost empty-handed.

There's a private club range just south & east, down in the 'glades, but other than that I couldn't find anything public - not even a pistol range - close to Naples.

If you go farther up the coast towards Ft. Meyers or Bradenton, you may find something, but that's an hour or more away.

try the manatee range, open thurs. to sunday, rt. #64,myakka city, florida . n.e. of naples . 100 yd. out to 1000 yd.

From my friend:

"The pickings of ranges on the West Coast are really poor at best. Most of the clubs if you find any are going to be geared to sporting clays or skeet and/or trap.

If you do find any, they are going to be club oriented like Manatee Gun Club Point of Contact is Gene Pitts in Myakka City. They do have a 1000 yd range but its a benchrest only range and I have never shot there. The only public ranges within a 2 hr drive are 100 yd ranges on my side of the coast, again very regulated and very difficult to practice sitting and prone rapid fire when the public is there. Rapid fire strings are only allowed when the Sawgrass Rifle Club has a match reduced course on the first Saturday of the Month.

If you come during the 4th Saturday you can drive a ways to Orlando to the Central Florida Rifle and Pistol Club for shooting 300m NRA or ISU targets.

The range on Palm Bay Port Malabar Rifle and Pistol Club is 140 miles from my house on the east coast and has matches 1st weekend mid range 3rd weekend XTC 2nd weekend practice at 200 with practice at 600yds."

The Manatee Range just east of Bradenton off of HWY 64 is open too the public and is not just benchrest only. Google up their website and give them a call as they welcome visiting shooters.

Sound like their 1K range is fairly new. Glad to see they're open to the public, even though I'm 1,300 miles away!
