Long barrel 223's

Along the same lines as the 'short barrel 223' post is there a point of dimenishing returns with a long barrel 223? I'm running a 30" Lilja and would like to cut it back to 26" and continue to run 77-82 grain bullets.

I went from 24" to 26" to 28" and picked up a bit of velocity each time; it's been a while, so I don't remember exactly what the increment was. With the right load, you can take advantage of that extra length. I shoot Hornady 75s,BTHP and A-max) over N-550 with WSR primers in WW or LC brass.

75 amax over a stiff charge of varget in w-w cases w/ fed 205's netted me 2960 in my 22" 1-8" L-W tube.

i built my ar 15 with a 20" and 1-9 shooting a 66gr. .25 at 100yr would like to go to 1-10 for more velocity tho
