Log in: a prerequisite to following threads?

Ever since the forum was revamped several months ago, a user must log in to get up to date postings. Lately, the delay has gone from hours to weeks. For the last month if I don't log in, I get the same page that's weeks old. This old page appears even if I don't use my Accurate Shooter bookmark and google AccurateShooter. I know of no other website that requires log in to get current posts. Is this what non-members experience when using the site? If so, it's not very conducive to attracting new members, and a PITA for the members.

So, if you're not logged in, how does the site know what's current for you?

That aside, I've found it exceptionally easy to remain logged in to all the sites I frequent, but then again, I'm using my PC.

If it comes to that, how do you log out here?

Xenforo has two ways to look at recent threads,

when logged in you can click the new topics button. That uses post tracking and is dynamically generated to show you things you have not seen yet. You need to be logged into the site for it to know what you have seen.

The other is "recent posts" that shows you all posts in order and does not require you to be logged in since it's just chronological order

Both are dynamic and can't be updated by refresh or if you bookmarked the new posts page. You have to click the button!!!

I would like to see a recent posts button up top for logged in users

Well, I wanted to try your hitting "recent posts" suggestion....but after several attempts I am no longer getting that month old page. Thanks for the tips though.

another way to show you what happens is when you click new posts you get a url like this
http://forum.accurateshooter.com/find-new/2921993/posts
the bold blue number is generated when you click the link.
if you click it again you will get another url with a different number. its generating custom output each time.
now if you bookmarked it its going to go right to that same number over and over and show you the new posts from that moment in time! That is clearly not what you want to have happen.

We just made the same jump on my site to this forum software and it was a learning curve for the users. IT is with out question the best forum software made bar none! http://schoutdoors.com

I have no problems... I have the front page book marked and then clic the Forum button.. New stuff pops right up.. And i stay logged in all the time
